GOOD presentation – brief, concise, and right on target.
We do need better metrics but I suggest PUE & DCiE will likely be proven to be the most easy to track for I suspect the second generation metric will be much more complex and costly.
There is also software being designed/tested using available system management metrics which will allow data center managers to attain energy savings most of us have never though possible – when coupled with the new ASHRAE TC 9.9 Thermal Guidelines for DataCom environments.
We need more companies to engage in a program to “Kill-a-Watt” in their data centers. Start with data center best practices – low hanging fruit.
There is real opportunity here to improve your ROI, reduce data center operating budgets, increase equipment density, all while reducing the carbon footprint of your organizations data center. This is a well proven concept – so know your PUE and use it to track the improvements and gained efficiencies when implementing best practices in your data center.
    THANKS
