Data Center design Strategy has a large impact on TCO as well. POD design within a larger “room” rather than POD design utilizing individual “rooms”. Individual rooms require typically higher M&E costs, as well as increased technology infrastructure costs. While the positive side of individual rooms is that you do not need to bring all on line at once, the reality is that most items need to be in place (M&E as well as Technology Infrastructure), in order to have the ability to bring a new room on-line, without increasing risk to the existing production rooms.
